A native of Mexico, the plant bears lovely colourful daisy-style flowers with yellow centres bloom amidst lacy cut, fern-like foliage, providing an attractive background for the flowers. Sun-loving, free-flowering all summer, can serve as an accent, screen or cutflower. The flowers have bright shades of white, pink and deep rose. Cosmos will thrive in most soils. * Easy to grow

Days to Germinate: 10 to 12

Germination Temperature: 20 to 30 °C

Sowing Media / Soil Type: Well drained

Sowing Depth: 1/8 in.

Sowing Method: Direct sow, transplant recommended

Water: Moderately depending upon the soil and climatic conditions – keep the soil moist but not too wet

Sun: Prefers full sun

Notes: Prefers light, dry conditions. Light aids germination. Space 9–12 in. apart. Tolerant of drought. Can be sown in situ. For best results, thin its fast-growing large plants. Deadhead for persistent blooms. Harvest cutflowers when petals on first flower are just opening. Don’t wait too long, old blooms don’t last. Vase life is 4–6 days.
